My favorite climbing place

From when I was a kid. It's in old Greenbelt, and my Mom would take me there and I always tried to get to the top.

Consultants v Bankers

Or "Da** it feels good to be a banker:

(NOTE: There is a bit of inappropriate language in this, which I in no way endorse. There is no "clean" version of this, but its funny so I wanted to post it)

(PS: The Walt Whitman reference is hilarious. You have to love the gratuitous MoCo reference).

Why is there no blog integration with Last.fm?

If I like a song, I should be able to have it send a post to my blog automatically. It could include the artist's name, the song title, album title, a blurb on the band and ideally some info on the song.

If I comment on a song or artist, again, I should be able to have that go right to my blog.

Obese high school football player loses 100lbs and is on his way to a scholarship

It was this bad:

Quote
As a junior last season, Calvin McDowney seemingly was a member of the DeMatha football team in name only. He rarely played, he weighed nearly 400 pounds late in the summer, and a school trainer ordered him to see a cardiologist before he even took the practice field. Walking the two flights of stairs in DeMatha's main school building caused him to pant. He would break a sweat walking to the team's training room.

What amazes me in the story are the basic life skills that the school personnel had to teach him (and that there is no mention of a parent or guardian in the article).

Quote
Norris also took McDowney grocery shopping, walking together through the Shopper's Food Warehouse in College Park and showing McDowney how to read labels and buy items that were lower in carbohydrates and fat content. She taught McDowney to buy a head of lettuce and use it for multiple salads. She also instructed McDowney to use smaller plates and drink more water to fill his stomach.

The rest of the story here, I hope MD considers recruiting him, we can use the help.

I hate intentionally leading IM away messages

It was cute back in 1999 when IM was somewhat new, but a decade later it's lame.

Stop it.

If you want people to write you, just freaking put "I desperately want attention" as your away message. Otherwise you're like my crazy coworker who says things like "I had the best weekend ever" first thing Monday morning.
